Steve Boros

Boros signed with Detroit for $25,000 while a student at the University of Michigan, where he received a B.A. in literature. He was voted American Association MVP with Denver in 1960 and had an excellent rookie season with the Tigers in 1961 until sidelined by a broken collarbone. After that the intellectual infielder was better known for his B.A. than his BA. Later a ML manager, in his only two full seasons (1983 A’s and 1986 Padres) his teams finished with identical 74-88 records. He was considered a masterful teacher of baserunning.
