Steve Busby

Busby was the first pitcher to hurl no-hitters in each of his first two full major-league seasons (1973-74). The TSN AL Rookie Pitcher of the Year in 1973, he won 16 and no-hit Detroit on April 27. His second no-hitter came on June 19, 1974, as he retired the last 24 Milwaukee batters. During his next start, he retired the first nine, for an AL-record 33 straight. Over a 17-inning stretch he faced 54 batters, allowing no hits and three walks. A two-time All-Star, Busby set a Royal record with 22 wins in 1974. After three stellar seasons, knee and rotator cuff injuries ended his career.
