Tommy Leach

A 5’6″ speedster, Leach was Pittsburgh’s third baseman in the first World Series, played in 1903 against the Red Sox. He specialized in triples and hit four in the ’03 WS – two in one game – to set still-standing Series records. Of his 62 major league home runs, 49 were inside the park; none of his seven 1903 homers were hit over the fence. He led the National League with six home runs in 1902 and twice topped the league in runs scored – with Pittsburgh in 1909 and with Chicago in 1913.
