Vern Kennedy pitched a no-hitter for Chicago against Cleveland in his first full season in 1935. He followed with a 21-9 record in 1936, but he led the league with 147 walks. A sore arm slowed him down after 1937, and in 1939 with Detroit he lost an AL-high 20 games.
