Warren Hacker

As a boy, Hacker wanted to be a coal miner like his father, who insisted he pursue baseball instead. Hacker followed a 15-9, 2.58 1952 season with a league-leading 19 defeats in 1953, and had three more losing seasons with poor Cub teams. The righthander relied mostly on knucklers and sinkers. He came within two outs of a no-hitter versus the Braves on May 21, 1955.
