The American Baseball Association was formed in 1882.
Owners of the clubs that had been left out when Hulbert formed the National League decided to establish their own league in 1882 and called it the American Base Ball Association. They played on Sundays, sold liquor at their games, and only charged twenty-five cents to watch the game.
