Like everything else in baseball, picking one team and labeling it the “best” is always a matter that gives rise to controversy. However, most historians would likely agree that the 1935 Pittsburgh Crawfords was the best team ever fielded in the Negro Leagues, or, for that matter, in any league!

The Crawfords of 1935 featured no fewer than 5 future Hall-Of-Famers in its lineup: Satchel Paige, Josh Gibson, James “Cool Papa” Bell, Oscar Charleston, and Judy Johnson.
