Japan’s “Mr. Shortstop,” the 5’3″ Yosheda was a source of national pride during the 1950s and 1960s when shortstops in Japan tended to be minor league American imports. Usually batting leadoff or second, Yosheda hit his peak with a .318 mark in 1964, when he matched his career high of eight homers.
